What I feel like saying is…

It’s been almost 3-years now since I started my journey with Money & You®. And I’ve only just noticed that each time the 7th-day after Money & You®… I get charged up with energy and start writing what I feel like saying.

Last July 2007, marks the 10th Money & You® I’ve been through including my visit to M&Y USA last May 2007.

I’d personally encourage you to make it a goal in life to visit M&Y USA at least once in your lifetime… go back to where M&Y come from, where it started in 1978 – almost 30 years ago. There is magic in knowing that no matter where you go in the world where Money & You® is being held… it feels just like “home”.

In just a few hours, we will be having the Money & You® Completion & Reunion Night at Holiday Villa Subang Jaya… and here I am having flashbacks of my journey… I remember the first time I was really hit by an “AHA” experience was driving on the way to my office about 3 weeks after M&Y. At that point in time, I was undergoing a lot of stress. After playing the DISC game in M&Y and learning about personally profiles (being a high C, high S) I began to realize how I see the world and how I behave especially in situations I’m not comfortable in.

Coming from an engineering background, I’m a person who loves details and quite an introvert. I hide behind my computer and was afraid to meet people or even pick up the phone. About 1 month after I did my M&Y, my boss said… Jacy, we’re going to setup an exhibition booth to promote M&Y during the Love Malaysia Expo 2004 for 10 days! On the outside, I kept a cool and calm façade – on the inside, my whole body was screaming – NOOOoooooo! What am I going to do???

One week before the exhibition, still we barely had anything to show in the booth and I most certainly didn’t want to be there talking to complete strangers about M&Y. It came to the point when I almost quit my job… and that was the day I was hit hard.

In M&Y, I remember my instructor stressing on this flipchart…

And what went through my head at that time was, “It’s just a game”.
I didn’t take it seriously because, I thought that “It was just a game.”

I saw myself in the M&Y room again… and how I was playing the games. And to my shock, that is how I play the game of life be it in my career, my relationships or my finances. It’s like having a big mirror in front of me showing me – this is me now – is this behaviour supporting me or is it sabotaging my success? And now that I know… who do I choose to be? What do I choose to do?

I always seem to be sitting on the sidelines, just observing – too afraid to take any action, or analyzing too much till I was paralyzed, or letting myself be stopped by doubts and fears… and procrastinating till time is up and use that as an excuse.

I realized at that time, a limiting belief I didn’t know was in me – that I didn’t deserve to have better results in my life and I would let others go ahead of me. It hit me then, that if I were to quit, I would go back to the same old habits… nothing would change.

By the time I reached the office, I made a new decision, to take on that challenge and pluck up my courage. Within 3 days, we had all the materials we needed to put up and the time has come to come out of my shell. The first 3 days over there was highly perturbating when I hardly knew how to answer their questions or talk about M&Y.

By the 4th day… I began to enjoy talking to people, being fascinated with the different personalities I meet. My teammate and I spent the whole day there identifying the D-I-S-C’s just from the way they walk up to the booth, how they pick up the brochures, if they’d come in and talk to us or walk away the moment we get up to talk to them…

Since then, I’ve become more aware of how I begin to see the same situation in a different way and that has made all the difference. Here I am today, writing to you.

We completed another term on June 20 – with the theme "Believe It or Not" with a message that we each took home that night inspired by the 10th speech, "TOASTMASTERS JOURNEY -- A Hero's Journey" by Hanson Lye…

That made me reflect on my own journey as a
Money & You® Toastmaster… one of my greatest fear
was public speaking and I had a big block when it comes
to communication whether it’s one to one, or in a group.
I would rather hide behind my computer than meet people.

How my journey began was because of another toastmaster –
Muheeth Khan, every 1st and 3rd Wed, he would pass by
my desk and say, “Jacy, you’re from Money & You®…
you should join toastmasters.”

This went on for like 6 months!

I just said, “No way! If it’s public speaking… I’d rather dig a hole
and stick my head in it then be in front of a bunch of people
making a complete fool of myself.”

It came to a point when I felt… pain, and frustration, because
I knew that being a part of the Money & You® Team, I’m in
the people business… and that means that like it or not,
I have to communicate.

I had two options, to let my fear get the better of me and quit
my job, or do something about it. My passion for Money & You®
was growing by the day, and each time any Money & You®
activity is on – I’m there. It then dawned on me that my Passion
outweighed my Fear. I had a big reason to choose to go beyond it
or have that be a block for the rest of my life… be it in my career,
or even my own relationships. I choose to turn this Fear into
My Passion.

A year later… our club was in a state of emergency with the
number of members dwindling by the month… it came to a point
where we only had less than a handful of active members.
This was a state of DO or DIE. We called for an emergency meeting.
The people who came together that night was indeed, I would call…
A MIRACLE – three of them were guests who had visited our club
only twice (and they all happen to be BSE graduates) and the other
three were members.

That was my first experience of true COMMITMENT, RESPONSIBILITY
and SYNERGY. And so, we started anew with 6 members. Today,
we have reached not only charter strength of a minimum of 20 members
but also, achieved Distinguished Club status.

It was truly an honour for me to pass the Light of Money & You® Toastmasters to Fong Kok Loon – bringing Money & You® Toastmasters to a whole new level.

Our goal this term is to at least have half the members complete their basic manual of 10 prepared speeches and move together to take on the challenge of the advanced manual together.

My term as a President of Money & You® Toastmasters is one of the most profound and enriching experience of my life. From being a shy little mouse to being invited before an audience of over 50 toastmasters from around the Klang Valley area – sharing with them, how Money & You® Toastmasters did it. How we did it… if I could put it in just one sentence I would say –

“In anything that we do, we choose to do it with Enjoyment”

And with Enjoyment… comes Passion!
This is a club with a lot of Heart and Electrifying Spirit that it’s contagious!

I feel REBORN --- My Experience with Jack Canfield!

This is one of my 'shorter' email sharing :) Length is relative... It's been a long time since my last sharing So this is to make up for it. Hope you enjoy the Journey with me... And share one of yours too.

To my Money & You family...

Life is indeed an UNBELIEVABLE unexpected ADVENTURE!

Last week I had the opportunity to meet Jack Canfield himself!
I had waited one year for this moment... I had come into contact with Jack a year before -- also one of the most defining moments in my life.

Jack was supposed to do his program in Malaysia then, but he couldn't make it as all the airports were closed because of a snow storm. At that time, a close friend of mine had asked me to ask Jack for a signature. I would have never thought of doing such a thing in my entire life. Nonetheless, I emailed Jack and asked him for not one, but two signatures!

Jack then sent two stickers with his signature on it within two weeks.

That was a time I had stuck my neck out and put my foot forward to ask for what I had perceived then was 'out of my reach'.

For some strange reason... I gave one sticker away and I didn't paste my own sticker in my book. And so I waited a year to see Jack in person, to have my first Jack Canfield book signed - 'Dare to Win'

Finally after waiting for a year... Jack came to Malaysia.

Even though I wasn't in the room half the time as I was outside manning our Money & You booth. I spent the whole day thinking of what on earth do I say to Jack Canfield? My passion is in writing and to meet someone like Jack is like a dream come true!!!

Can you just imagine the feeling?

It was a highly perturbating experience... visualizing and visualizing the whole scene. I wrote and rewrote my script in my head more than what felt like a hundred times! This may be my one chance to go up to Jack and I had wanted it to be a moment to remember.

What do I say?!!! Not just go up to him, smile and ask him to sign my book.

It took me 3 attempts to pluck up my COURAGE.

The first time I went up to him, it was at the first break. I waited for most of the crowd around him to disperse. Then left just two participants and myself waiting for Jack to sign our books... then Jack said Ok, last two. No more on this break.... and guess what -- I missed my chance.

Second time... the crowd around him was building up and so I decided to wait again for the next round.

And finally, the program drawing to an end...it's now or never! Again I waited until most had gone off after the program. My teammate kept pushing me to quickly ask Jack for his signature, and I pretended to look cool and collected so I said, "Wait... let others go first. Our team will have some time with him".

I was actually stalling to compose myself... it made me more tense rather than calm. I was at the brink of tears already and my throat was getting all choked up. My whole body was trembling, I took a deep breath and introduced myself.

I smiled and said,
"Hello Jack, I'm Jacy and we're from the Money & You team"

Immediately his face lit up.

I shook his hand, put my books down then I asked Jack...
"May I hold your hands?"

He first gave me his right hand thinking I had just wanted to shake his hand again. I took both his hands and the moment I opened my mouth... tears just rolled down my cheeks I could hardly say the first sentence I've been rehearsing all day!

I finally managed in between tears to tell him that he has made a deep impact on my life a year ago... Then I remembered Clinton Swaine's exercise with us during the Entrepreneurial Empire Game on the Power of Acknowledgment said with Essence, right from the Heart -- short, powerful, straight to the point.

(High D's will love this!)

Now is a good a time as ever to say what I feel like saying in a short yet impactful manner...

I said to Jack,

"Jack, The Gift YOU are to ME is Love, Inspiration, Generosity, Passion, Courage, Integrity, Truth, Joy"

Thank YOU. That's What I Feel Like Saying :)
Then Jack asked if he could hug me!!!

I shall remember this moment for the rest of my life...

Many graduates have shared with me that Money & You is the Greatest Gift that we could ever give ourselves and the people around us.

It may not happen overnight. I can say for certain that I have been blessed with many miracles and all along the way I've met people whom have touched my life in a way that I shall treasure always. Life has not always been rosy, and that's what makes it so sweet and what I've learnt from the experiences of having the COURAGE to step out of my box --- out of my comfort zone, and follow my heart.

That's not the end of the story yet...

I then asked Jack to sign the back of my book upside down!
Was he surprised at such a request...

DC had sent me an email a day earlier as she knew that our team will be meeting Jack and asked me to send her love to Jack. I chose to write the note on a round hotel coaster saying...

"Dear Jack, DC Cordova sends her LOVE"

I placed it at the back of the book so that when he opened the page, he'd see the note. It was like a completion for me a year ago as I now place the sticker on the front page.

One of the graduates who shared this moment with me had asked, "Why the back page?"

I just said, it's because everybody automatically turned to the front of the book for him to sign... but the end is where something wonderful is hidden and seldom seen... it just pops up at you at the last moment when you least expect!

For me, it is just like life... when things seems so close to the end, then something just pops up and surprises me when I least expect it --- what a wonderful surprise it would be to reach what we perceive as the end of one chapter of our life, and to begin anew with such great blessings.

That is my wish for YOU too and all those around you. We can't change the past, we can always start now and have a new beginning to the end. Come to think of it... even beginning and end is relative. It's actually a continuation of NOWs.

In the space of just 2 months since I graduated from BSE April 2006, I'm amazed at the people I've met. I never would have even dared to dream of meeting before!

I got that all it takes is ACTION and ask for what I want... believing I deserve the best that life has to offer.

What is it about Money & You, and Business School that makes me come back again and again... I just can't compare one experience with another. Every time I meet someone along the way that touches my life in such a profound manner.

And many have wondered why I'm so passionate about my work... its because it doesn't feel like work --- when I do something I love to do every day of my life, I'm not working... I just get rewarded in so many ways. Some say I'm lucky... I say that I created my life to be just the way it is and just the way it isn't.

If you've been out of touch with Money & You, do come back. That's your life time privilege as a graduate, for the full 3 1/2 days for free.

I'm back from Money & You San Diego, USA!!!

What can I say… My wish come true!

I’m back from visiting Money & You® USA at Oceanside San Diego. And I’d highly encourage you to make it a goal in life to go back to the source at least once in your lifetime -- to where history was made, Money & You® was created and thousands of lives… more like MILLIONS perhaps close to BILLIONS of lives transformed (counting our Chinese family) as a result of the precessional effects that each and every Money & You® graduate have created for almost 3 decades!

Next year, 2008 is when we celebrate our 30th anniversary!

The irony of it all is that here I am promoting Money & You®… And there I go half way around the world for my very first experience on the logistics team! It was worth every single minute of it and much more that I can’t even put a value on the experience.

What I got most from this trip is really – the very beginning for all things to happen, for any result in life that I’m creating now, and what I want to create in the future begins with this lesson:

I’m truly blessed to experience the Magic of Money & You® where it began… And here I am at the Quantum Learning Campus with Bobbi DePorter herself and Jim (her life partner who shares the same office space) on the Monday after Money & You®. I made it a point to visit the centre once more to take photos there and share it with you. Just in case you are wondering who Bobbi is, she is one of the original founders who was instrumental in the creation of Money & You® and also leads Excellerated’s sister organization – SuperCamp.

And here is Kerry Zurier, Money & You® Instructor leading the human chain after the Auction Game (Remember… make your animal sound… I am the Ocean of What..?)

Anywhere in the world, it’s just wonderful to be in a Money & You® room and experience the light of Money & You® shine. It’s just an amazing feeling to walk in the room… And feel like… home. Here’s Money & You USA® Superlogs Team May 2007 sending love and warm hellos to you!

TIPs #1 - Art of Selling - Price

I found this fascinating book lying on my office table on the first day of work after my trip to USA. I just opened one page and was completely fixed to the “secrets” this author had to share with me –
in The Art of Selling by D. Forbes Lay. I was so mesmerized by what I don’t know that I now know… and to be aware of what I don’t know – I know!!!

TIPs #1 – PRICE

Price means different things to different people, at different times, and under different circumstances.

To the Salesperson, price is a stumbling block that prevents sales because it is always too high.

Yet, top Salespeople choose to sell high priced products for the higher commission. Price is more of a problem in the Salesperson’s mind than in the Prospect’s mind.

To the Company, price is based on:
--------------------------------------------------------
-> Their product’s production and sales costs
-> The price their competitors will “let” them charge
-> Substitute products (vacation vs. a new car)
-> Desire for certain large accounts
-> What their Salespeople suggest
-> A good deal of “gut” feel

To the Prospect, the price is a sacrifice they must make in :
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-> Dollars, both short and long term (change, service and life)
-> Physical effort of acquiring and implementing the product
-> Hassle of change in procedures and personnel
-> Peer pressure, if not a popular decision

To all, there are emotional and logical aspects to price. If the emotional aspect is strong enough it will transcend all other considerations. A Psychologist will agree that if someone wants something badly enough, then they indeed do “need” it. Conversely, if someone really needs it, but doesn’t want or feel comfortable with it, it will be an unhappy purchase.

(and here’s some interesting revelations…)

To the Prospect the price is:

ACCEPTABLE:
* If they want it emotionally
* If the product is scarce
* If the product is being hoarded
* If it is the last one (greed)
* If it is a great bargain (everyone is a buyer at some price)
* If it reinforces their self-image
* If they do not know what a good deal is (a consulting fee?)
* If the product is unique
* If the product is a current fad
* If the product is complex
* If the product is personalized
* If pride is the motivator (luxury items)
* If the product will make them look better to others
* If the Salesperson assures them that it is acceptable

UNACCEPTABLE:
* If it has a very low price (little value, little respect)
* If the low price cannot be justified (being dumped?)
* If below their station in life (have to apologize for it)
* If they don’t want or need it
* If they don’t see the benefits in it for them
* If they feel they can get it cheaper elsewhere (being “taken”)
* If it is not a good deal in their mind
* Price must not be considered an objection.
* Price resistance is a signal that the Want is not great enough for them to exchange their dollars for the limited benefits.

Top 7 “Selected” Secrets:

1) Rarely is price the only deciding consideration
2) Price is neither high nor low; it is a relative value
3) Every price is too high until they see the benefits
4) Features justify purchase; benefits justify price
5) People buy from people they like, often regardless of price
6) You only cry once when you buy quality
7) Price only ranks 6th in importance in deciding

I got so much value out of this book that I want to share some of these tips with you too. I hope you got value from this short sharing and I’ll be sharing more with you as I go along… it was either reading the whole book then share it or share the bits and pieces I read :).

Believe like it or not, everybody is selling all the time, whether you’re presenting to customers, to your boss, interviewing for a job, to your potential partner, their parents… yes, even your kids!

Being on Money & You Team, starting from a person who practically feared sales and avoiding it like a plague – to my breakthrough experience when I did the Excellerated Sales Team (EST) Training in 2005…

I can now say “I LOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEE SALES” with essence and complete congruence.

I was thrilled to hear from some of the graduates who had gone for the last EST training in May (when I was in USA – so I missed it) when I gave them a call -- and they shared with such great enthusiasm even after 3 weeks of doing the program, how differently they feel about sales, and how they are being when they do sales. WOW!

I am totally inspired by her and feel blessed to have such awesome Masters in my life – Masters who have given me some of the greatest gifts – the gift of their insights and their experiences.

I hope that I inspire you to not only read The Soul of Money, but also read the works of our dear Bucky. His book, Critical Path, is worth the read. It will speak to parts of you that are ready to hear his beautiful information that is just now coming into “vogue.” Bucky would have loved Al Gore with his environmental work – and he would have loved YOU for living a life that includes his greatest message:

A Father's Love...

I was looking at all the past M&Y photos,
and I distinctly remember the one M&Y
we had in Johor Bahru -- June 2005 at the
Eden Garden Hotel when all the father issues
came out on Sunday morning. That happened
to be on the Father's Day weekend...

This compelled me to spend a moment to write
to you and all the fathers out there in
celebration of your love and the
gift you are to the world.

This poem goes out to all the fathers out there...
It brought a tear to my eye... as I remember the
great love of this father of mine -- the one man
I have held on a beautiful pedestal all my life.

My earliest recollection of his love was singing
Jambalaya to me as I lay in my cradle as a baby...
the moment he stopped singing thinking that I've
gone to sleep, I'd burst out crying and he would
smile and carry on singing to me again...

The nights when I was laying in bed, sick with high
fever... he'd come in my room, and I could feel his
cool loving hand pressed on my forehead, and I'd
feel alright.

I remember the days when my brothers and I
would rush to his side, sitting on the bed...
he would tell us bedtime stories. And we'd look
up at him with wonder in our eyes. WOW...
daddy knows everything!

He seldom says "I Love You"...
and yet he says it in so many unspoken ways...
all we have to do, is listen with our eyes and our heart.

To all the fathers out there... this is for YOU...

Fathers seldom say "I love you"
Though the feeling's always there,
But somehow those three little words
Are the hardest ones to share.

And fathers say "I love you"
In ways that words can't match -
With tender bedtime stories -
Or a friendly game of catch!

You can see the words "I love you"
In a father's boyish eyes
When he runs home, all excited,
With a poorly wrapped surprise.

A father says "I love you"
With his strong helping hands -
With a smile when you're in trouble
With the way he understands.
He says "I love you" haltingly,
With awkward tenderness -
(It's hard to help a four-year-old into a party dress!)

He speaks his love unselfishly
By giving all he can
To make some secret dream come true...,
Or follow through a plan.

A father's seldom-spoken love
Sounds clearly through the years -
Sometimes in peals of laughter,
Sometimes through happy tears.

Perhaps they have to speak their love
In a fashion all their own.
Because the love that fathers feel
Is too big for words alone!

Finding my BIG WHY...

This is my very first post on this blog.

And here begins my very first posting...

Wow! Believe it or not... it took me over a year to finally put my energy and my heart in to starting my own blog. Just thinking about the page title and a new e-mail to register my blog had me squeezing some juices. Everything has to feel... Just Right -- from choosing the title, to the colour, to the content... ultimately to how I feel if I were to read my own blog.

This is truly an incredible feeling. I can feel such a rush of eNERgy, EXciteMent, FiRe --->>>> and SPARKS in rainbow colour filling the diamond studded sky!!! Even though it's 2.04 pm right now in broad daylight. That's how I'm feeling right now... celebrating this WIN!

I'm still wondering what motivated me to spend this beautiful Sunday afternoon to begin... CREATING this blog which I decided to name
"Holding Infinity In The Palm of My Hands..." and a new e-mail

I wonder what comes up for you when you read just the title alone, or even the my new e-mail identity?

One thing certainly comes to mind right now... a dear friend of mine had just shared with me last week, Dr Annie Lim, she said did you know if you rearrange these words "I'M CLEAR"... to just one word, it reads -- "MIRACLE"?!!

SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

I'd like to express my heartfelt THANK YOU to all my "unreasonable friends" who have been instrumental in this process especially Terence Tan, Dechen Lau, Adelene Bek, and Terry Cheah. Terence has been "pushing" me to share all my stories on a blog for as long as I can remember, Dechen who thought me incredible tools to make it possible with the "know-how", Adelene's passionate sharing on her own blog was a great inspiration, and the last nudge I would say came from Terry Cheah with this message he had written to me right after my sharing on my trip to Money & You USA last May 2007. I've copied his message here to me...

Yes, the last year since BSE has been simply amazing!
Like 5 yrs accellerated to 1 yr!

Thank you for your suggestion too.
I've been toying with that idea.
And I feel I'm ready for it now :)
So I will work on that.
